Its been awhile since I've blogged. Stayed put, exploring ways that could help with "Maintaining".
The diet portion of the protocol was easier then the maintaining . Really! I actually found that: No Fat, No Sugars, No Starches, 500 calories a day was easier then maintaining. But it was mental. All the worrying was a waste of time. Yes, I fluctuated in weight 1 - 2 lbs. Normal. There was a stressful incident where I gained 5lbs. but it melted away within days. I weigh 146 lbs. And I've started the protocol for a 2nd course.
What's different this time? 1. I'm exercising.
2. I have traveling companions.
Yes, I lost 34 lbs without excercise. Since losing the weight. I joined Walk NYC.
Walk NYC is a FREE program that encourages New Yorkers of all ages to get fit while enjoying the outdoors. (See Free Goodies, for more info.) We currently meet twice a week in a city park for 1 hr. Our instructor is a dynamo, whose commitment and love of physical fitness challenges and inspires us all. Some how in an hr we do cardio, (walking), calistetics and stretching. I've amazed myself. Discovered many strengths, met new friends and continue to see improvement in my weakest area (balance). (I've added a 3rd walking day on my own and I've started resistance training at home.)
While, I am solely responsible for preparing my meals, I now have many friends, old and new who have joined me on the Weight Loss Journey. Everyone at different stages, but ALL losing and enjoying their journey. Oh! Did I mention the many, many compliments they ALL report. Joy!
Keeping it real, I need to share the negative. Perhaps because I did not exercise. Or, because of how quickly I lost weight, I am flabby. Talk about turkey neck triceps. eeks! But with clothes on, lol, I am looking good!
What has touched me the most, is the number of calls I've received from people, crying, because they have never been able to loss weight before, or had surrendered to aging as if weight gain was inevitable and something to merely accept as part of 'Aging Gracefully'. The Gratitude has been overwhelming. It propels me onward.
Gaining Health while WE Melt the Fat Away!
